Katherine Metz new principal at Leo Jr. High

Meet Katherine 'Katie' Metz:

  • What made you want to change schools to become principal?

Leo Junior High and EACS is known for their family and community feel, along with their academic and athletic opportunities for students and families.  I was ready for a new opportunity to learn, grow, and lead in a new-to-me community, school, and district.  

  • How long have you been with the district?

This will be my first year with EACS.  I was with Southwest Allen County Schools for 16 years prior to making the change.

  •  Can you list some of your prior work experiences? 

Math teacher at Arlington High School (Indianapolis Public Schools 1 year)

Math teacher at Homestead High School (9 years)

Math department chair (2 years while at HHS)

Varsity girls’ soccer coach (6 years while at HHS)

SACS Middle School Athletic Director (1 year)

Woodside MS Assistant Principal (6 years) 

  • What are you looking forward to most about this job? 

I'm most looking forward to joining the incredible community of students, parents, staff, and community members.  I'm passionate about students, teaching and learning and look forward to the opportunities to build relationships and collaborate together with others.

Mrs. Metz is married to Charles, and they have one dog, Collin.
