Topping Ceremony

East Allen County Schools joined students, staff, community members and project partners to celebrate a significant milestone in the construction of the new Southwick Elementary School with a topping-out ceremony, marking the placement of one of the final structural beams of the new facility.

The ceremony celebrated both the progress made on the much-needed elementary school and the people whose work is bringing the project to life. When completed, the school will provide students and educators with a modern learning environment featuring state-of-the-art classrooms, innovative technology and flexible spaces designed to support exceptional teaching and learning.

The new elementary school is being built to address the district’s need for additional and updated learning spaces. The facility will provide welcoming, safe and engaging spaces where students can collaborate, explore, create and build the skills they need for their futures.

Construction will continue over the coming months, with Southwick Elementary anticipated to welcome its first students in the Fall of 2027.
