Paul Harding Jr. High School in need of instruments to ‘keep the music playing’

Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, a national nonprofit organization that supports music education in schools, will present students with more than $30,000 worth of instruments for music programs at Paul Harding Jr. High School. Students, teachers and district administrators will be on hand to celebrate the instruments’ arrival. Definitive links have been made between students involved in music education and their academic performance, reasoning skills, work habits and lower incidence of substance abuse.

Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation makes music education accessible for underserved students nationwide by donating instruments to music programs at under-resourced K-12 schools that serve an economically disadvantaged student body.

Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation supports equitable music education by placing instruments in the hands of underserved students in schools nationwide. The organization was founded by GRAMMY-winning composer Michael Kamen, who composed the music for the 1995 motion picture Mr. Holland’s Opus and numerous others. In the last 30 years, instruments with a value of $37 million have been donated to nearly 2,000 school music programs benefitting more than 500,000 students across the country.
