On Friday February 20th, bus driver Arlene Delagrange was forced to stop her bus and attend to a student having a medical emergency. The student was unresponsive and located at the rear of the bus. The incident was out of the range of the radio handset located at the front. A student Destine Cooper took the initiative under Arlene's guidance and was able to use the radio and accurately, clearly and efficiently relayed information between the driver and the office as they were calling first responders on another phone.
Arlene's quick thinking and Destine's quick action both contributed to the positive outcome of the situation, possibly saving the students' life.
