Thirty-one area high school students have been selected to participate in an exclusive 3-day masterclass program led former Fort Wayne resident and Netflix star, Heather Headley. Through this prestigious program, Headley will engage young aspiring performers with the once in a lifetime opportunity to learn directly her and other renowned performance experts. Leo High School students, Storii North was one of the ones selected.
Storii and the rest of the applicants were required to submit an individual video singing, acting, and had to answer an essay question about their passion in life.
Headley, a Grammy and Tony Award-winning singer, songwriter, and actress whose acclaimed performances on Broadway and beyond have inspired audiences around the world. Known for her starring roles in Aida, The Lion King, and The Bodyguard, as well as her celebrated music and acting career, Headley continues to champion arts education and mentorship for youth.
“We had such an overwhelming response, that I found myself unable to settle on only having 25 students for our first pilot program. So, I asked our dedicated team of musicians, music teachers, and educators, to push it a little and include a few more students”, said Headley. “I’m so grateful for and to this team for the great care they have put into this process. They spent an entire day diligently going through all the auditions and then settled on 31 students. I’m excited to meet and work with these talented young people, and hopefully, help guide them to being our next crop of artists.”
This pilot program demonstrates a deep commitment to aligning access, education, character building, and professional exposure for aspiring young performers.
CONGRATULATIONS STORII NORTH!
