Scholarship Winner

Grace Busch, Leo High Valedictorian is the winner of the late Rev. Mike Nickelson scholarship!

The late Rev. Mike Nickleson was a community activist who fought for justice, civil rights, and education. He was devoted to his family, dedicated to his congregation, and serving the Fort Wayne community as a Pastor, leader, and educator. His belief that “children should have a voice “was instrumental in his mission to start the first charter school in the State of Indiana, Timothy L. Johnson Academy in Fort Wayne. The late Rev. Mike Nickleson was an advocate of Southeast Fort Wayne businesses, housing, and school districts, particularly East Allen County Schools and Fort Wayne Community Schools. The Rev. Mike Nickleson Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in honor for his community service and activism for education and civil rights.

The Purpose of the Rev. Mike Nickleson Memorial Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to high school graduating seniors who have demonstrated an interest in personal, academic and community advancement and intend to pursue a course of study at an accredited higher educational institution, trade school or continuing education program.
