Youth of the Year

Passport to Manhood Youth of the Year

Passport to Manhood represents a targeted effort to engage young boys in discussions and activities that reinforce character, leadership and positive behavior. Each participant receives a “passport” to underscore the notion that he is on a personal journey of maturation and growth. Each of the program’s 14 sessions use interactive activities to focus on a specific aspect of character and manhood. It also includes a service project where boys learn the importance of giving back to the community.

Gerald Williams, is a 9th grader at New Haven High School, has been a dedicated member of the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Indiana for three years. He was nominated for consistently stepping up when needed and for being a positive role model to younger members. Gerald demonstrates quiet yet impactful leadership, whether it’s assisting staff, mentoring younger kids, or modeling respectful behavior, he leads by example. His presence lifts the atmosphere of the Club, and his actions reflect the values of his leadership, service, and character.

In Gerald’s own words: “This program has helped me choose my own path and try to help people who are struggling.” During our Passport to Manhood event, he also encouraged his peers to “be yourself and see the bright side of your life by looking forward to the opportunities ahead.”

Mr. Joe Jordan, President & CEO of the Boys & Girls Club states, “Gerald’s compassion, initiative, and maturity make him a powerful example of what it means to grow into a future leader through the Boys & Girls Club experience.”

Recently, Gerald was named ‘Passport to Manhood Youth of Year’ 2025!

CONGRATULATIONS GERALD!
