Math Competition

The Board of School Trustees and Superintendent Hissong honored Leo Elementary for being named the March state champion in the Prodigy State Challenge, the world’s largest math competition. Students joined forces to answer more correct questions than any other school in Indiana.

Prodigy Education - a global leader in game-based learning - State Challenge drives engaging math practice through exciting monthly contests, with classes uniting across their school to battle others for major prizes and the title of monthly state champion.

Students at Leo Elementary correctly answered 154,021 questions during March, securing the title of State Champion and winning a pizza party for their school, Prodigy swag, and Prodigy Math memberships for students. Students and their teachers showcased outstanding teamwork during the competition, with their dedication and effort bringing pride to the school and the local community.

"We are incredibly proud of our students' outstanding achievement," said Ms. Michelle Rodgers, Principal of Leo Elementary. "This victory reflects their commitment to academic excellence and the supportive environment fostered by our dedicated teachers and staff in igniting a love of continuous learning."

Prodigy’s State Challenge is a monthly contest open to all eligible classrooms across the U.S. Classrooms qualify if they use Prodigy Math and have a teacher account linked to a school in Prodigy’s database.

In addition to competing at the state level, classrooms will have the opportunity for national recognition in the Prodigy National Cup, which runs from May 1–14. Schools earn points based on their State Challenge rankings at the end of each month, determining the tier they’ll compete in during the National Cup. The school in the platinum tier that answers the most math questions correctly during this period will win the Prodigy National Cup along with a $100,000 tech grant.

Congratulations and Best Wishes Leo Elementary School!
