From the Principal

Welcome to Paul Harding Jr. High School.  This is the beginning of a new era for students in the Harding area and the entire community.  I am proud and humbled to be the principal of Harding Junior High School.  Our teachers and staff are committed to providing the best education for our students.

Our school's reputation and success rest, in large measure, on parental concern and involvement.  We seek to afford each student an education commensurate with his or her abilities, relevant to their needs, and challenging to a degree that will prompt a love of learning. This is no easy task. We need the cooperation and understanding of parents, community leaders and all who are involved with our students.

I am confident that our students benefit when the entire community comes together.  We welcome you and invite you to join us in our efforts to build a great school.  Please contact the school and receive information about how you can get involved.  This is going to be a great year at Paul Harding Jr. High School.

Go Hawks!

Congratulations to the first class of the College-Bound Brotherhood!  Thirty-eight young man of Paul Harding Junior High School were inducted in a very special ceremony.  We thanked the Ft. Wayne Urban League, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and Dr. Charles Green for joining our staff and students in his very special event.

Members of the College-Bound Brotherhood pledged to stay focus as scholars and young men, to receive the full benefits of education, and to position themselves to go to college and be leaders.  In doing so, they will exercise the capacity of self-discipline and respect the fact there will be the priority to studying and be aware that there is a time and place for play. In addition, they will cooperate with school administration and teachers, maintain proper conduct, exemplify positive behavior, refrain from drugs, alcohol and tobacco, and avoid any negative behavior is that deters their academic achievement and goal to go to college.  They also pledged to show respect to their parents, peers and elders.

The inductees where presented with neck tie specially designed by a former Paul Harding student. They will wear this neck tie as a symbol of their commitment to themselves and their goals.

Student Leaders at PHJHS!!

On Tuesday, November 8 and Tuesday, November 15 a group of pre-selected Paul Harding Junior High School students participated in Leadership Training facilitated by high school students affiliated with Youth Leadership Fort Wayne, which is a part of the larger program, Leadership Fort Wayne.  Program Director Ellen Cavacini and the high school students led the training called “Project LEAD”

The goals of the program are for the PHJHS students to be able to define and clearly understand leadership; discover personal leadership skills; accept and appreciate diversity; learn decision making skills and working together as a team.

The students were given $500.00 allowance by the program to design a service project on behalf of the school to purvey an anti-drug/alcohol message throughout the school.  Stay tuned for what the leaders of PHJHS will come up with.
