LHS Barnes and Noble Winners

Recently, Barnes & Noble held a Teacher Appreciation Essay contest throughout the nation. Students could write an essay, poem, or thank-you letter (500 words or less), sharing how a teacher has influenced their life and why they appreciate and admire them.  The students who authored the winning essays received a certificate of recognition and were honored at a local store in their community.

The following East Allen County Schools students were selected as winners of the essay contest!  On Saturday, March 25, Emily Ibholm, was recognized at Barnes & Noble Glenbrook Square location as the 1st place essay winner and Olivia Taylor was the Runner-Up!  Both students are Leo Jr. Sr. High students! They wrote an essay about their teacher Mrs. Amanda Hess, Biology teacher at Leo Jr. Sr. High!  Ms. Hess was also recognized at the March 25th event. Emily and Mrs. Hess received Barnes & Noble gift cards.  If Ms. Hess is selected as Barnes & Noble Teacher of the Year, she would receive $5,000 and her school would also be awarded $5,000.

The EACS Board of School Trustees, and Dr. Ken Folks recognized Emily, Olivia and Mrs. Hess for this great accomplishment!
