14th Annual Anchors Away Cardboard Boat Competition

Recently, students from New Haven High School physics classes participated in the annual ‘Anchors Away’ Cardboard Boat Competition. Each team designed a cardboard boat and tested the design at Jury Pool in New Haven. Each boat constructed should have been large enough to support someone to navigate it around an obstacle course through the pool. Boats were constructed of cardboard, duct tape and glue, and the imagination of their builders.

Recently, Prince Chapman Academy had a very successful student assembly that focused on Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) for the 2013-14 school year. The PBIS team used the first week of school to teach school wide expectations and procedures to all students and staff.

The first day of registration was a huge success! Beginning at 8:00 a.m. there were lines of parents along with their students excited to register for soon approaching 2013-14 school year. “We have been busy since registration began. New Haven Primary School and Paul Harding Jr. High School were given a fresher look inside and out. A team from Greatbatch Medical beautified the grounds at New Haven Primary by planting flowers, spreading mulch and pulling weeds. Paul Harding Jr. High hallways were painted by The Bowen Center team which gave the hallways a brighter look!
