Leo Jr/Sr High School Students Sharing Hearts Club Supports Christmas Families

Members of the Students Sharing Hearts club, or SSH, supported seven Christmas families this year. This is the club’s 10th year in doing so. The club raised $2,100 for these families through various fundraisers such as classroom competitions, collecting spare change at sporting events, and collecting change in local neighborhoods. About 36 SSH members and 8 Leo faculty members helped shop for and wrap gifts for these families on Dec. 1  more
Heritage High Students Council Host Food Drive For Community Organizations

Heritage High School's student council held their annual food drive December 3rd through December 14th. Students were asked to donate non-perishable food items, paper products, and toiletry items. Monetary donations were collected during sporting events and all money collected was graciously matched by the David Woodman Foundation.  more
Woodlan High Football Player Named Colts Academic All-Star

Blake Miller, senior at Woolan Jr. Sr. High was named to the Indianapolis Colts high school academic all-star team. The colts along with the Indiana football coaches association formed a committee to select a senior player representing each offensive and defensive position regardless of size school. Blake was named the Tight End academic all-star.  more
Heritage FFA Members Stand Out in State Forestry Contest

Members of the Heritage FFA and Allen County 4-H placed 1st, 5th and 11th at the State Forestry contest. The members identified 50 leaf samples, seed samples and wood samples. Additionally, they took a comprehensive examination over a variety of forestry topics.  more
Meadowbrook Elementary Nominated as "Rapidly Improving School" By Indiana Department of Education

The East Allen County Schools Corporation has been notified by the Indiana Department of Education that Dr. Tony Bennett has nominated Meadowbrook Elementary as 1 of 8 from Indiana as a "Rapidly Improving School" as part of the National Blue Ribbon process. Each grade level at Meadowbrook saw growth and the amount of growth put Meadowbrook in the top 10 improving schools in Indiana!   more
East Allen County Schools Students & Staff Raise Funds for Hurricane Sandy Victims

Today, East Allen County Schools administration and students presented a check to the American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana in the amount of $2417.49! These funds will go towards the National Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund. Over a one week period, EACS staff and students worked hard to raise these funds to help the families that were affected.  more
Heritage Jr/Sr High Collect Toys for Tots

Heritage High School collected over 160 toys for the "Toys for Tots" program. Seniors Kristen Alexander and Kassidy Klingensmith headed up the school wide toy drive. The collection was also supported by the Athletic Department and all the Heritage Jr. Sr. High athletes!  more

Southwick Students Win High Honors in Poetry Contest

Tara Tun, 1st Grade student at Southwick Elementary, won 2nd place in the 2012 Allen County Public Library Poetry "Just Write It!" contest. Over eleven hundred children from 64 different schools in Allen County entered this year's competition.  more
East Allen University Student Poetic Power Writing Winner

Nicole Winans, 9th grader at East Allen University was recently chosen as a Poetic Power winner by the Creative Communication Company! Creative Communication is a company who is devoted to the promotion of writing, teaching and appreciation of student writing. Paul Harding Jr. High Students Give Back to Local Veteran’s

On Thursday, November 8th, Paul Harding Jr. High students (along with their Health teacher Mrs. Sorg), attended a field trip to the Shepherd’s House in Fort Wayne. The Shepherd’s House is a place where veterans who are suffering from substance abuse reside to receive individualized help. The students made Veteran's Day Cards for the veterans.  more
Former EACS Employee Recognized by Woodlan Wrestlers

The Woodlan Warriors Wrestling Boosters recognized Mr. Dennie Miesle at their season opener against Bishop Dwenger on November 27th. Mr. Miesle was recognized for his 29 years as a Warrior Wrestling coach and the boosters dedicated a new wrestling mat with his name on it! Mr. Miesle was a teacher/Athletic Director at Woodlan Jr. Sr. High School for 41 years. He coached wrestling for 29 years and girls softball for 6 years.  more
