Perceptions & Recommendations

In the fall of 2011, the EACS Board of School Trustees commissioned an environmental audit to be completed as a way to "look to the future" to determine the direction of the district over the next ten years.  This follows the implementation of the initial stages of the EACS Redesign following years of paralysis over consolidation. It comes on the heels of the closure of five schools across the district, preparation for several facility projects and numerous legislative mandates directed at public education.

Below is a link to the result of the audit, completed by Dr. Daryl Yost, with the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center.  In Dr. Yost's words, "This report is not based on research, statistical data or a scientific survey, but the feelings and thoughts of people closely related to the district."

According to Dr. Yost, he met with 909 people over a seven month period of time in a district of more than 9500 students and a community of nearly 24,000 households.  Most of the people who took part in this survey were employees, but there were several parents and community members represented as well.  Among the perceptions listed in the report are comments he may have heard as he completed his task.

EACS hopes to use this data in its strive toward continuous improvement.  Continuous improvement uses data NOT for punitive action, but for growth and success.  We look forward to addressing these challenges for OUR continuous improvement as a staff, Board and District.
