Marilyn HissongIt has been a wonderful start to the school year because of each of you.  I have been humbled by the students, staff, parents, and community of East Allen County Schools.   I see firsthand how fortunate we are to be surrounded with good people who truly want success for all of our students.  As I am out in the buildings or at community events, it never stops amazing me how focused we all are on making East Allen County Schools the best possible place to educate our students.  Thank you for everything you do to support our students and our schools!

We have started or updated some of our communication pieces this year.  With that said, please be patient as we work through the learning process with these methods of communication.  Please look for some of the following changes:

  • We have bolstered our East Allen County Schools Facebook page.  Please like us at www.eacs.k12.in.us. (It is located at the bottom of the homepage.) You will see lots of school pictures from the classroom, special events, extra-curricular activities, as well as the staff just having some fun.  Additionally you will also see fog delays and closings on Facebook.
  • We have started sending text and email alerts to parents/guardians regarding fog delays.  Staff receive e-mails regarding fog delays. 
  • We will continue to use School Messenger for phone messages that need to be sent out for special communications from the district and from the buildings.  ELearning phone messages will be sent out when East Allen County Schools closes for the day.
  • We have updated the district’s webpage as well as each school’s webpage.  Please look for construction updates on the district’s and the school’s webpages.
  • I am going to personally try to post some “Superintendent Shout Outs” a couple times a month.  You can access these on the District’s main webpage as well as on Facebook.  We will try to give updates on construction projects as well as some awards and achievements that are happening around the District.
  • As a parent/guardian, if you have a concern or question, please communicate with your child’s teacher first.  If things are not resolved, please talk to the building administration (principal, assistant principal, or dean).  If things are still not settled, please feel free to call or e-mail the assistant superintendents for elementary or secondary education.  As always, I will be available for any concerns that may not be resolved along the way in this process.  We are all here to support our students and families!

Good communication is crucial to the success of our students and our school system.  We will continue to do our best to keep you informed.  If you have questions or suggestions, I am always willing to listen.

Please remember that Fall Break is October 13 – October 16.
