State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Glenda Ritz, recently announced Indiana’s Four Star School Awardees for the 2011-12 school year. The Four Star School Award will be awarded to Cedarville Elementary School and Leo Elementary School. Superintendent Ritz said, “We have set aggressive goals for students, teachers, parents and administrators at the Indiana Department of Education. It is our duty to provide Hoosier students with an education that is best in the nation and on par with the most competitive countries in the world.”
The Indiana Department of Education recognizes schools that perform in the upper 25th percentile of schools in performance on ISTEP+ and ECA state exams, as well as their rating determined by the national No Child Left Behind statute's Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). In addition to meeting these criteria, all Four Star Schools must meet the 95 percent student participation rate. The fact that your school met these high expectations is evidence of the hard work demonstrated daily by staff and students.
